About Fifi






Fifi Colston: MA Creative Writing, Dip. Visual Communications Design

Living in Wellington, New Zealand, Fifi Colston has a richly varied career as design and illustration tutor, children's book illustrator,  commercial artist, writer and poet, Wearable Arts designer and costumer for the film industry. For many years she presented arts and crafts on the children’s television programme What Now and TV1’s Good Morning show.

Fifi has been a judge for the New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards, is active in the writing and illustration community, serving as the President of the New Zealand Illustrators’ Guild, the Convener of the Wellington Children’s Book Association and a Wellington committee member for the Storylines Festival. She was Co-Convenor for Spinning Gold, the 2009 Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Conference.

Fifi has illustrated 33 books to date; her work includes illustrations for the School Journal and trade publishers. In 2004 she graduated from Victoria University with an MA in Scriptwriting. Fifi is a published junior fiction novelist; her most recent novel ‘Glory’ was shortlisted for the 2010 LIANZA Esther Glen Award for Junior Fiction. 

Fifi is currently working on more book commissions and running art and writing workshops with schools and communities.
