About Adele

Adele Jackson

Adele's illustration career has focused predominantly on educational illustration with some design and commercial artwork thrown in for good measure. She has been illustrating for 30 years, much of this as a self employed practitioner.

Adele has been a team leader in Media Services at Te Kura The Correspondence School, illustrating and producing learning resources for distance learners at all levels. This means she has a thorough understanding of the needs and constraints of illustrating for children and adults in an educational context. Her illustrations are included in many of New Zealand’s School Journals and in publications by Macmillan NZ, Dorling Kindersley UK and educational publications produced by Learning Media for use in schools in Canada, USA and beyond.

Adele is also a regular guest speaker at Whitireia Polytechnic where she talks to Publishing students about working with illustrators and about the practice of illustration. She also tutors art and graphic design for Stotts Correspondence Education.

From 2008 - 2011 Adele held the role of Wellington Regional Storylines coordinator and she is is currently a busy member of the Wellington Children’s Book Association committee. Like Fifi, she was actively involved in bringing Spinning Gold to fruition and delighted to be a part of developing Booktalks, (the Skype an author initiative run by CORE) that grew out of the conference.

Most recently, Adele’s artwork features in the publication Safety in the Mountains a Handbook published by Federated Mountain Clubs.
